On July 7th-9th we went camping in Santa Cruz with our dear friends the Books and the Griffiths. It was my(Emma) first time camping so I was a little nervous. But, I had a great time, Giovy had a blast playing with her 3 other girl friends. I love their little group and friends and what is awesome is that us, the moms, we are really good friends too. I think I would do it again but somewhere warmer(hahaha)

Chad and I are so happy because we have a house!!! We started our search for a house 3, 4 months ago and we finally have a home! The moving date is July 1st and we are really excited. I spend all my time looking for house stuff on Craig's list and yard sales! It's so awesome to get stuff for our own home!!! Being in my own home is really getting my transition to living in the States to an end! I didn't want to feel like a stranger here for the rest of my life. So, I am so excited about having our own house!!!

We had a really good time on Easter! I love when I have a reason to dress up my little girl. She got the dress from Grammy, Chad's grandma, and Giovy just loves it! She thinks that she is a princess and she is indeed! Giovy is mommy's little princess. We went to church and in the afternoon we got together with the family, we had dinner, took pictures of the girls, Giovy and Adelaide, we played cards and we just hang out, which I love!!!

So, Chad and Katie, his sister, were planning my birthday party for Saturday March 27th. What i didn't know is that they were planning a surprise party for Friday March 26. Chad said that on Friday we were going to go out to a restaurant and Katie was going to babysit Giovy. So, around 6.30 pm we went to drop Giovy off and when I got in everybody yelled "La multi ani" (Happy birthday in romanian). There were about 30 people in there and it was awesome!!! I love surprise parties and Chad and his sister did an amazing job!

Actually today March 30th is my birthday and I am turning 30!!!! I just came back from an awesome breakfast at my favorite place Ihop and in a little bit I will go shopping!!! And later tonight we will go to the movies!! So, I am really happy with my birthday week!!

It was sooooo good to have Niki and Alexia here! Giovy had so much fun with Alexia(even if they kind of butted heads sometimes) and she learned to play with another kid and even to share a little bit. They loved to play "boom" blanket, where they would sit on a blanket and Chad would drag them through the living room (as you see in the top picture). They had a lot of fun doing that!

Chad and I had a little vacation, for couple of days and we went to Santa Monica and Malibu. It was amazing to walk the Santa Monica promenade, on Valentine's Day, watch the street shows (some of them were amazing), drink Starbucks, hand in hand with my husband, making out like we were dating. It was great!!! We want to do this all over again. The next day it was Chad's birthday and he really wanted to visit the Getty Villa, in Malibu and then have lunch at Paradise Cove on the beach. We had to wait for two hours, it was packed but we waited on the beach, so we can't complain too much. We want to go back there sometime because it was a great experience. I love spending quality time with my husband. Happy birthday and I love you, babyboy!

We had a cute little party for Chad and it was really fun! Everybody had to share a fact about Romania and we had romanian food! Everyone said that the food was really good even if they were kind of nervous about eating romanian food, and I don't think they laid. HA!HA!HA! We had "sarmale" (cabbage rolls), "salata de beof" (potato salad kind of), grilled chicken with romanian seasoning and rice. Kind of yummy, ha? Niki helped me so much and we made it happen!

Me and Niki are so excited about spending time together and especially because our girls can play together. They butt heads sometimes and they fight over toys but sometimes they really get along and it's so cute.

Because in Romania New Year's Eve is a very big deal, I wanted to throw a party with our friends and have lots of fun. And we did it! It was awesome. All of our friends from church came and we had a blast! We played Taboo and Wii, we ate loooooots of food, we had champagne at midnight, did the countdown and kissed our spouses. It was great! I am happy with the party and we love our friends.

I was so excited about this Halloween party! I was a flopper, it's a dancer from the 1920s, chad was going to be a mafia guy and my little giovy a cat. But Chad and Giovy got really sick the day before Halloween, and that really sucked! I still went to the party with my mother in low, Katie and Nic. It was fun but it would have been so much more fun with Chad and Giovy. We still dresses up Giovy and took pictures! My first Halloween in the States..... Maybe next year will be better!

My laptop was broken for a few weeks and that's why i couldn't blog anymore. I am really happy to have it back because it really sucked not having it. It has been three months since we moved to the States. The two months I was fine and about a month ago I started really missing my family, my wonderful friends in Romania, the church. So, I am in the process of adjusting, building a new life, finding my purpose here. I just joined Gb3 2 weeks ago and it has been awesome, people at church are really cool, Chad's family is great but I still miss my family and friends. I guess this is the process that I have to go through and I know that God is going to help me.

My girl loves Elmo!!! From the million of words that she says everyday, in her own language, I always understand the word "elmo" She wants to watch "Elmo in Grouchland" twice a day, but, of course, she only gets to watch it once a day. I like her obsession with Elmo!

And she, also, really likes to play with other kids. I take her to the mall, to the playground, and she loves it. She wants to climb on the islands for bigger kids and one time if I wouldn't have gotten behind her on time she would have broken her neck, probably. She is, for sure, a hand full, but I love her to death!

My husband got a tattoo!!! He went to Las Vegas to meet with his best friends from college and he came home with a tattoo!!! But I knew he was going to do it. Actually, I love the meaning of his tattoo and that's why I agreed for Chad to have it. Here is the meaning. It is a compass, inside a crown of thorns; in between each arm of the compass is one of his four responsibilities as a man: first "Son" in Hebrew (son of God), then "Husband" in Romanian, then "Father" in English and finally "Servant" in Greek.

I am a brunette now. I did it today! Chad wanted me to go brunette for a while so I thought I should try now that i made a big change in my life. If I can change countries I can change my hair too. Last week we went to the mountains to Chad's grandma's cabin for three days and we had a really good time. Giovy loved it! She ran around and we took great pictures of her. That picture on the tree trunk is our favorite.

I am so proud of my little princess! She is doing so well in Sunday school at the church. She doesn't cry at all when I leave her with the rest of the kids. Because we are in the transition to adapt to living here and she feels that we are in a another country sometimes she doesn't want to stay in a place where she doesn't see me. But, she does really good in Sunday school and I am proud of my girl!

We moved to the States!

We are officially living in Clovis. We got here on July 15th after a heck of a flight. It took us about a week to get over the jet lag, not too long, and it was pretty easy for Giovy.
We were really greatful for that. Now she is adjusted to the house, Chad's parents and things in general. We actually moved here because God spoke to Chad about getting involved in Sequoia Community Church where his brother-in-law is the senior pastor. We have been attending that church and we really like it. People are very friendly, a church that is focused on helping unsaved people to give their life to Jesus and planting other churches. So, we like the vision! Chad is going to get involved a lot more in September and I am going to get involved in the worship team. Acctually on Sept 20th I am going to lead worship with Chad and I am really, really nervous. But, I am also very excited.

We had a great vacation!!!

We went to Bulgaria on a vacation with a few days before we left Romania. We had a great time! Specially Giovy, there were 2 other little girls that she played with, so she loved it! We went with two other families, great friends and amazing people. One family lives in Bulgaria, they are missionaries and the other family lives in Turkey, also missionaries. We had a great time together and we are going to really miss them.

We are so happy!!!! On June 26th we celebrated our five year anniversary! We went to Bucharest, to a hotel, we went out for dinner, Chad just discovered Benihanna restaurant and we were really excited about it! We had a great time, especially because we had great five years together and we are done with a very busy time in our lives. We are going to rest and have a vacation for a few weeks and then start our lives again in the States. We are looking forward to it!

My husband is HOT!

I was looking over the pictures from Laura's wedding and when I saw this picture I felt butterflies in my stomach. I really like the guy standing next to me. He is tall, classy and he loves me!!! We are getting close to our 5 year wedding anniversary and, somehow, today more then ever, I realized how blessed I am to have Chad as my husband. The other day we had a barbecue at my parents house and, of course, Giovy had to check everything out. She is such an outdoor person. She loves when she sees grass, flowers, animals, she starts making her loud cute sounds.

We are so happy with our little girl! Last week on May 1oth my brother Joseph and his fiancee Laura got married and we took this picture at their civil ceremony. Chad says that in this picture Giovy has the Wilkinson smirk and he is proud of it. I like Giovys smirk!
Here is my brother and his wife, who is also my very good friend and the person who I raised up to take over the worship team. So, I am really happy that they got married. Besides that Chad and I had so much fun at their wedding, we danced until I could not feel my feet. You, guys, the people who know Chad well, will be surprised to hear that Chad danced. He was really funny dancing the typical romanian dances looking like a cowboy. But, he was adorable!
Our litlle Giovy cant stay still!! She always has to be on the move. She always looks like she is on a mission to get somewhere. But we love that she is so full of life!
Chad and I were the godparents for Joseph and Laura and the romanian tradition says that I have to take her vail down and I had to put on her just a normal head covering thing, like in the picture, meaning that she is a woman now and not a girl anymore. I had fun!

Fun Times!!!

We are in a period of time with our little girl when we have a LOT OF FUN! She makes the funniest faces and the most crazy sounds. About two months ago she started walking and now she wants to go everywhere. She does not take breaks unless is time for her naps. She smiles at everybody, very friendly and very outgoing. It's really fun to see her personality! She eats a lot!! She eats her food and right after that if we eat she wants our food too and she is not going to leave us until we give her from our food. She loves the the song "If you're happy and you know it" and she starts clapping right away. We love our little girl!!! She is our sunshine!!

I want to talk about the past for a little bit. About what we have been doing lately and I am going all the way back to march when we celebrated my 29th birthday. We had a lot of fun, we had about 30 people in our small living room, giovy loves parties just like her mommy, so she was all over the place. Because it was the last time when I would celebrate my birthday in Romania I wanted to have around me all my friends and family. I cant believe how close I am to being 30 and I wonder how that is going to feel. Chad did a great job organizing everything and it was awesome.

7 year Church anniversary

Last Sunday we celebrated 7 years of existence as a church. We had a jam-packed service where each department was interviewed and then had a presentation from their department. It was very encouraging to see the kids department and how it has grown; Chad's drama team performed a drama called "Walls" that was written by his team and Emma led worship and also had a special song with Chad and Laura. Overall it was a success and an encouraging time for the entire church.

Last Sunday night, Giovy's best friend Alexia (Dan and Niki's baby) was dedicated to the Lord in front of the church; so Giovy was very excited that she got to get all dressed up again in her nice clothes and do her hair.

For the first time in the history of our church, we are hosting a week-long VBS. Our good friends Pastors Terry and Pat Carlson as well as Brian and Beth Molloy have been coming every year since 2003 to serve our church.

This year we asked them if they would teach us how to put on a VBS; since they have been doing children's ministry for over 20 years, they thought that was a great idea.

So far, it has been going great. We are two days in and the Romanian children's workers have already started to catch on and do many of the activities.

Giovy already has a favorite baby-sitter (obviously excluding Grandma). Emma's sister Esthera has been such a huge blessing the past 2 months. She comes over about twice a week to help out around the house and stay with Giovy. As you can see, Giovy is very comfortable with her.

Worship team expanding

Emma has been doing a great job with the worship team. We continue to write our own songs. We have 12 now and are very excited each time we introduce a new one to the church. The next one we'll do is called "We have victory". Emma wrote the words, and together we wrote the music. She really was inspired when she wrote the words; we were out of town at a conference.

3 new singers were just added to the team in the past month all of them under 16 years of age so they still have a lot of time to develop their voice.

Trip with the Interns to Rupea

This past weekend I was with Gaby and his interns to a small town about 3 hours away called "Rupea". We served the church there and had some fun too. Rupea has one of 7 citadels that traces back to the 14th century. It is situated on a steep hill and was very well fortified. Now it's back to Targoviste and back to work.

This is the first year when I am not directing the intern program that our church hosts each year. One of our other leaders, Gaby Popescu, is directing it and he is doing an absolutely wonderful job. I have become totally addicted to his messages and have been eating them like candy. He is the most Bible-based, balanced preacher I've ever heard. Preaching Leadership

We are currently away from home for a couple days at a Re-Encounter with God retreat. It is going very well so far. There are 13 future leaders attending, from the ages of 15-23. They all finished the School of Leaders and are ready to be sent out into ministry. It is very exciting. I preached last night on "The Call of the Leader" and will preach again tomorrow on "The Evaluation of the Leader". I don't preach very often, but every time we have retreats I always like to preach at least two times. I really enjoy the smaller, retreat setting.

Dual citizenship

So we went to the US Embassy yesterday to file for Giovy's citizenship and US passport. I think that over the past 6 weeks she has successfully woken up to cry in the middle of her sleep dozens of times for no apparent reason; but no, when we need to wake her up to take a passport picture all the shaking and kissing and talking in the world doesn't budge her. It was hilarious as we tried in 2 different photo studios to wake her, employees getting a kick out of it and us practically being late. We finally gave up and just went to Bucharest and said we'll take the pictures there. We still didn't actually get her up, but she opened her eyes just enough to get a picture. I guess we shouldn't complain though, since she was totally low-maintenance that day.

It seems that sometimes Giovy is fighting against sleep. Is this possible? Do any of you have any experience with a child who you know must be exhausted but seems to be fighting against the idea of sleeping? We have discovered that Giovy is all about movement. She cannot sit still for the life of her. She constantly moves her hands in positions such as: "I surrender", "Let's dance vogue", "I want to go horse-back riding" and "Victory!"

It's really hilarious and make it easier for us when she cries. She also moves her legs all the time. She really, really, really wants to crawl already. She is always trying to find something to kick off of so she can move.

All church BBQ

We took Giovy to the all church BBQ last week and found that in a matter of minutes we were instantly relieved of our parental duties as Giovy floated around; it was great. I actually got in a ton of basketball and Emma hung out with the girls and even got in a nap. We'll have to do this more often.

When Emma and I were in the states this last time in December we went to see Enchanted with my parents. 3 days before we went, we were in Target looking around and Emma decided to go buy a blue baby book since we thought we were certainly having a boy. As she picked up the book she got this feeling that, in fact, we were not going to have a boy after all. She told me and I said that I had a similar feeling too. As we watched Enchanted we became more and more convinced that a little "Giovanna" was on the way. Well, here she is. When my parents came they brought us Enchanted as a gift, so now Giovy has her 2nd Disney DVD. :)

I know I missed a day, almost two, of blogging. The thing is, she has started to have those severe stomach pains and for a couple of days now she has hit new levels on the crying scale. Thankfully today has been a little bit better; she slept for a while so we watched "Transformers" and "Seraphim Falls" (which was actually really good).
